Thank you for your interest in becoming involved in the Seattle SHRM chapter! An association is only as strong as the volunteers who help lead it. We encourage you to consider taking a leadership role in Seattle SHRM so that we can continue to serve the HR professionals in our community. Please see the information below as there are some general requirements that should be considered before deciding to volunteer for a board role:

 

General Board Responsibilities and Duties

1.      All board members must commit to attend up to 80% of all Chapter Meetings (3rd Thursday of every month unless otherwise noted in communications and calendar of events)

2.      All board members must commit to attend up to 80% of all Board Meetings (1st Thursday of every month unless otherwise noted by Chapter President)

3.      Each role has a specific position description and responsibilities vary between roles. Please review individual role outlines to get a better understanding of the specific time commitment and requirements. For reference, here is a short overview:

a.      Monthly chapter and board meetings (on average 2-4 hours monthly)

b.      Quarterly participation in chapter networking events (on average 1-4 hours per quarter)

c.       January strategy meeting (occurs on either Saturday or Sunday, 6 hours)

d.      Commitment to contribute to the mission, Board initiatives and goals (role specific, on average 1-4 hours per month)

e.      Any additional support for the Board as needed

  6. A chance to participate and help lead our Board’s annual SHAPE (SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence) strategic planning and goal setting for the year
  7. The opportunity to earn up to 20 FREE recertification credits for attending our chapter meetings and volunteer contributions
  8. Most important point here:  you can help give back to the HR profession and support our awesome business community’s needs!

How to Apply

If you are interested in a role on the Board, which is vacant and posted above, you will need to submit the Candidate Consideration Form to Board President, contact information is located in the Consideration form.

 

Our Leadership Selection Committee (LSC) will review all of the Candidate Consideration Forms submitted for Board voting roles that are both currently vacant and those that will become vacant in the following calendar year. Candidates will move through a recruitment process that will involve some sort of interview process with the LSC and other board members.

 

The Leadership Selection Committee will review your submission and contact you once a decision has been made either way. Applications will remain on file for up to one year from submission.
