Help! I'm Invisible!

Approved for 1 HRCI general credit and 1 SHRM-SCP and SHRM-CP PDC

Held each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is a national campaign that raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities.  As we celebrate NDEAM’s 70th anniversary, Seattle SHRM welcomes Nancy Kasmar for a valuable program; helping us to lead us in a paradigm shift in the thinking about disabilities for our organizations.

This presentation is designed to provide HR professionals with knowledge and guidance on the impact of invisible disabilities on their workforce and their organization’s bottom line. The discussion will include information on the prevalence and cost of invisible disabilities. Participants will learn disability etiquette, and techniques to encourage disclosure of invisible disabilities by their employees. Participants will learn ways to evaluate their current business processes to provide an optimal workplace for all employees. Participants will leave with tools and resources for use in making identified changes in their organization.

Nancy Kasmar, MS, SPHR, CCP, SHRM-SCP, is a Principal with Compensation Connections. Ms. Kasmar has over 25 years of management experience in addition to eight years in human resources.  She received her Master of Science degree from the University of California, San Francisco, and a Certificate in Management from the University of California, San Diego. Nancy holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation with an additional certification as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). She is has her SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.

Nancy has worked with hundreds of companies throughout North America as a compensation consultant over the past seven years.  She was 2014 President of Lake Washington Human Resource Association, a local SHRM affiliate with nearly 1,400 members.
