Interested in joining the Seattle SHRM Board?


Why join, should you ask yourself?


Well, here are some of what we call “benefits” of joining our leadership team as a Board member:

 

  • Opportunity to work closely and network with other HR leaders and professionals in the local community (i.e. what we often call networking…)
  • Stay current on trends and best practices within our own profession (always a good thing, right?)
  • Outside of networking, you get the opportunity to participate as a leader within the Chapter to set the strategy and next evolution of who we are and what we are set out to accomplish in our mission that links to SHRM’s mission within our own profession. (i.e. what we call being visionary to advance the profession!)
  • Enables you as current Chapter member to get the most out of your membership with us (i.e. what we call engagement…)
  • Help us continue to grow our succession pipeline and you get exposure to a more view of all of the Chapter and what it’s about to truly be a member (i.e. what we call learning opportunities, sometimes a ton of offerings…)
  • Participate and help lead our Board’s annual SHAPE (SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence) strategic planning and goal setting for the year (i.e. what we call Leadership Development for you!)
  • Most important point here:  you can help give back to our HR profession and support our awesome business community needs! (i.e. we think this is the best benefit of them all…)


What is the commitment, you ask?


The answer to this is two-fold in our response to this common question:


a.       You must attend all Chapter Meetings (3rd Thursday of every month unless otherwise noted in communications and calendar of events)

b.      You must attend all Board Meetings (1st Thursday of every month unless otherwise noted by Chapter President)

c.       It depends on the role you get nominated into, but it also depends on how much you are willing to put into the role you are being asked to do.  You get out of what of it what you put in (outside of items A & B of course).

How to Apply (ok, the process stuff…)


Candidates interested in a Board role, which is vacant and posted here, will need to submit the Candidate Consideration Form to Yvette Herrera-Greer or Roma Rowland.


Our Leadership Selection Committee (LSC) meets a minimum of twice per year to review any submitted/nominated candidates for open/currently vacant Board voting roles and any Board voting roles that will become vacant in the following calendar year as part of slate building for any incoming Chapter President.


The Committee will review your submission and contact you once a decision has been made. Applications will remain on file for up to one year from submission.
